Better Than Ezra is proud to be hosting of one of the biggest parties on earth… Mardi Gras 2011!

To celebrate, the band is taking to the road this fall… the so called “Krewe of Rocckus and the Road to Mardi Gras” tour. They are helping to build Mardi Gras momentum (as if it really needs it!) and tying up loose ends on their schedule so fans can make advance plans to attend the nonstop party in New Orleans.

The date for the 2011 Mardi Gras is “Fat” Tuesday, March 8th, but most revellers show up the weekend before to enjoy the entended festivities, parades (known as “Krewes”), and round-the-clock debauchery that typically ensues. Better Than Ezra took their tour moniker from one of the best known parade krewes, the “Krewe of Bacchus.”

Better Than Ezra to perform at Jazz Fest

Better Than Ezra is scheduled to perform during the first weekend of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, dubbed Jazz Fest, is held April 23-25; April 29-30; and May 1-2. What began at a small square in New Orleans in the 70s has now grown to fill an entire arena.

Though it’s held in New Orleans, it offers more than Cajun music. Performers like Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Aaron Neville, the Allman Brothers, Darius Rucker, Steve Martin and Average White Band will be performing in 2010 on one of 12 stages.

Jazz Fest food is also a treat for the palate. Sure, it might be a festival, but the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation (who puts together the festival) has a strict ‘No Carnival Food’ rule. With more than 70 food vendor booths, festival-goers can expect to get the very best Cajun food in Lousiana with dishes like crawfish beignets, cochon de lait sandwiches, alligator sausage po’ boy (sandwich), boiled crawfish, softshell crab po’boy and crawfish Monica, according to the festival’s official Web site.

In addition to music and food, there are also several craft vendors that maintain booths in three separate areas of the arena: Contemporary, Congo Square or Folk.

Better than Ezra, Better than Ever

After Hurricane Katrina left New Orleans in destruction, the guys from Better Than Ezra had two choices: split up or stick together.

Now, four years later, the band has released a new album and is on the road for their tour, which runs through mid-October.

The album is called Paper Empire and is the first album to feature the new drummer Michael Jerome, after long-time drummer and friend, Travis McNabb, amicably left the band to work with Sugarland.
